Hi All -
I know this might sound like a stupid question... but could you give me some tips on how to correctly carry your pug. I just took my pug, Emma to the vet yesterday for for a UTI and also to check up on her legs because she was walking funny. To my surprise I found out that she has a knee problem due to possible mishandling and/or carrying her incorrectly. I did not notice it until my mother mentioned that hip displacement is a common thing for pugs so I wanted to make sure that it was nothing serious. The vet mention that there was a proper way to carry her since her body proportions are different from a normal dog. If any one has any helpful tips Emma and I would highly appreciate it. Thanks ! - Laurell |

I think your vet is on crack! Wait, how were you holding your dog?
They have those problems anyway...luxating patellas and hip dysplasia. Unless you were dragging your dog around by the leg I doubted you caused it. You should pick up any dog so that their weight is centered...just like you would with a child. Never pick them up by the legs. I'm curious as to how you walked into the vet's office carrying your pug. I have never heard of anyone getting scolded for this before. |

Support/cradle the pug in your arm like a loaf of bread or a football.
