I have been contacted by Central Texas SPCA in Leander with an urgent and very special need for volunteer help.

Williamson County Regional pulled two dogs from an abuse situation. Central Texas SPCA can take these dogs but they need temporary foster care.

Two neutered male dogs, ages 6-7 years old. One is a blind beagle. The other is a heartworm positive rat terrier. These dogs have to stay together as the terrier is the seeing-eye dog for the beagle. The shelter needs a foster that can get the terrier thru heartworm treatment and then both dogs can be returned to the shelter for adoption. Both dogs are dog friendly.

Pug rescue is bursting at the seams but I wanted to see if we could help. CTSPCA has been there for pug rescue many times. Perhaps someone knows a family outside our pug group that would be willing to help. These guys will be put down if a foster home cannot be located. Volunteers for these dogs would be working directly with CTSPCA not pug rescue. I can vouch for this shelter.

Please email me directly if you can help hagan_rita@yahoo.

I have photos of these needy dogs and a bit more information. The beagle weighs 17.5# and the terrier weighs 15#.

A third dog was found dead in the yard and they are pursuing an abuse case against the previous owners.

CTSPCA will pay for all vet care for these dogs, they just need a foster home to get the one dog thru hw treatment. Please contact me ASAP if you can foster or know someone who would be interested in helping.

Again they have to stay together.

Email or call me if you can help or would like to see photos.

I am interested in helping in any capacity - we could possibly foster them at the shop if we had a couple of volunteers who could do night duty?? I have never worked with a heartworm positive dog, I know they need to be kept quiet etc, but, beyond that I am clueless. Anyway, if I can help in any please let me know. Because I have a 2 year old and 5 dogs at home I can't take them in, but, you all know whatever I can do I will!
