PDE EVENT AND FUNDRAISER!
Meeting Description
Who
- Anyone of whom would like to become better educated about this little known, yet devastating disease which causes inflammation in the brain of an adolescent Pug. The illness randomly attacks a dog between 17 months to 3 years of age and is incurable.
Why
- You'll learn about PDE and its symptoms. Free voluntary testing will also be available for all canine attendees 7 years of age or younger; all proceeds of this event will go to PDE to further enable the efforts of research, development and education.
Organized by
- Ellen (CC&B-Chief Cook and Bottle-washer)
Details
This will be our first NNJPE fund-raising effort for PDE, also known as Pug Dog Encephalitis, and our guest speaker will be Ms. Eev Rodriguez-Knapp, a PDE spokesperson of whom has dedicated a good deal of her time and effort to educate Pug owners about this rather mysterious and terminal illness.
The duration of the event will be 2 hours, and along with our typical off-leash playtime, Eev will be there to provide education and enlightenment on the disease and will be available to answer any questions. She will also be conducting voluntary swab testing on canine attendees and selling PDE-related merchandise along with hosting a raffle; all net proceeds, as well as the proceeds of this event, will go towards PDE and the efforts of Dr. Kimberly Greer of Texas A&M University, who's made it her life-long goal to study PDE and learn more about its potential cause and effects, along with possible treatments.
THIS JUST IN! In order to "sweeten the deal" and make this an event you won't want to miss, we will be giving away an awesome door prize; a beautiful wood framed 24x30 inch "Pug Orange Juice" Art Print by Ken Bailey! (See image above...) The retail value of this item is $110.00 and one lucky member has the opportunity to win it simply by attending this event! (One entry per Puggy household permitted.) We are doing this with the hope of enticing as many people as possible to become informed about PDE and to support the cause!
I will post further details about this event as they become available; I encourage each of you to attend this event, not only to reinforce the efforts of Ms. Rodriguez-Knapp and Dr. Greer, but to educate yourselves as well. Let's all unite in this cause and help to find a cure for PDE.
Sincerely,
Ellen (along with Jeanne, Jennifer and Josie)

"It would probably be a lot nice if my dog was younger and able to enjoy playing more. She is older and just sort of walked around or stayed close to me. I went mostly for the fundraiser part. It was great to see all the pugs though!" -
