Hi Everyone,
Here is the revised event information for our day trip down to Manasquan Inlet...
First things first; I have SECURED A PERMIT WITH THE KIND FOLKS AT THE MONMOUTH COUNTY PARKS COMMISSION (11 AM-2 PM/60 people); THANK YOU RANGER BOYCE! No muss, no fuss...so take that, Bergen County Parks! (It's an inside joke, and you hadda be there...) I am therefore, pleased to announce the following details of this event:
The scheduled time of 11 AM will be the time we'll be meeting at the event site; there is parking available at the fisherman's cove but can become limited so arriving on time is suggested. Please note that all dogs are supposed to be on a leash, so a retractable one might be in order. There's also a very good chance that others, along with their dogs, will be utilizing the area; a Ranger will be in attendance to prevent any unruliness. (Old Chinese proverb I'd found in 5 different fortune cookies just the other day; pieced together, they read: Man and his large dog best think twice before attempting futile challenge with many NNJPE members and Chinese Pug Brigade...). The Thompson Park Dog Run in Lincroft is approximately 30 minutes away and going there afterwards will be open for discussion...
Additionally, being that our group will be rather sizable, finding a dog-friendly (hence; outdoor) restaurant to accommodate all of us would be next to impossible, thus I did also receive approval for a picnic by the water (no BBQ). Do be sure to pack a lunch for yourselves, along with folding beach chairs (and of course, snacks, water and poop bags for your pooch), if you'd care to join us for "al fresco dining".
We MUST clean up after ourselves, so please be considerate and mind your mess!
There will be public rest rooms available on the premises.
A rain date will be announced (if necessary); keep your fingers crossed that we won't need one!
