Arriba, arriba!
Time to get out the sombreros and maracas, for it's the NNJPE's Second Anniversary Mexican Fiesta Celebration! There won't be any siesta here, for they'll be too much going on! During this 1 1/2 - 2 hour event, you'll be listening to Herb Alpert and his Tijuana Brass performing the "Mexican Shuffle" and "Tijuana Taxi" on the ipod, while everyone's favorite canine companions enjoy themselves off-leash within our "Puggy Pen"! Just think of all the enjoyment you will experience while seeing your *Doguillo* run around the Sombrero doing the Mexican Pug Hat Dance...why; we'll even have a pinata, filled with doggy biscuits!
We are asking attendees to bring one of their favorite Mexican dishes, refreshments or Puggy snacks (in lieu of the $5.00 per person event fee), to keep with the theme of this event; I have tacked a post onto the top portion of our group message board ( http://pug.meetup.com... ),
on which you may state what you'd like to bring...please do be sure to "compare notes" as to what others are offering, so we don't end up with 15 (or more!) people offering chips and dip (don't get me wrong; I love chips and dip, but variety is the *Mexican* spice of life)! For those of whom don't have any culinary expertise in preparing a Mexican dish, don't fret...your monetary contribution will enable us to buy some *fixin's* in your honor; gracias! (Let's try to work with a 50/50 contribution- 1/2 of the guests bring food and 1/2 contribute money; that way, we don't end up with an overabundance of edibles!)
Dressing your Pug (or yourself!) in themed attire isn't a requirement, but sure would be fun and is encouraged; Ole! To get this party started, I've attached a link for purchasing Dog Sombreros!
The fiesta will be taking place in the climate-controlled playroom of Best Friends, Chestnut Ridge, NY. Please don't forget to bring your own chairs and poop bags! As with any event, minding your Pug(s) and cleaning up after him/her is a must!
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at this special celebration...hasta la vista, puggies!
Adios!
Ellen, along with the three '"J Gals" (Josie, Jennifer and Jeanne)
