Two inventions that define summer - the swimming pool and the automobile - can be risky for pets.

Never, ever leave any animal in a parked car (even with the windows open, it will become deadly hot in minutes)

and prevent pets from drowning with Safety Turtle, a sensor that attaches to the animal's collar, linked to a wireless base station; if the pet falls into the water, an alarm sounds (also, "close" the pool when not in use with a sturdy cover by Looploc.com )

A while back there was a thread regarding pets eating grass and why they do it. I thought all would enjoy reading this article that gives a reasonable explanation. Putting Your Pet Out To Pasture

O.K Linda hands up in the airbiggrin

Are you a vet tech.No I guess you don't have to respond to that question, just take kudos for so much good info.

Perhaps there is something you can tell me. confused

Dogs liver's make their own Vitamin C,so why is it included on Dogs Food? I know it is water soluble.

Viv,

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can reduce cancer risk, stimulate wound repair, boost the immune system, reduce the risk of cataracts, is important for proper bone formation, and plays a role in preventing heart disease.

Dr. Wendell Belfield points out in his book, "How to Have a Healthier Dog", "Fifteen years of clinical experience, involving over two thousand cases, has told me that dogs definitely benefit from extra vitamin C. When given supplements, they are much less likely to develop hip dysphasia, spinal myelopathy, ruptured discs, viral diseases, and skin problems. They live healthier and longer."

When supplementing vitamin C, use sodium ascorbate or some other form of buffered vitamin C, preferably Ester C which can be purchased in powder or tablet form.

The daily dosage for an adult dog is:

Small dogs: 500 mg
Medium to large dogs: 1,000 mg to 1,500 mg
Giant dogs: 2,000 mg

(These suggestions are for informational purposes only and are not medical advice.)

Thanks Mary.
That really is something that makes me angry, annual vaccinations.
I have tried to reason with my Vet but he still won't say that vaccines last a Looong time.,if not a life time.

I did get one of his stand in Vets(A lady,of course)
who admitted it to me and later when I was in the office,I heard her telling someone to get Titers first.
Too bad she isn't there anymore.
She went out on her own.

I really feel like I am poisoning my Pups when they have to have their Rabies.
Molly just got hers about 2 weeks agocryingangry
