Did you put a call in to H.O.P.E.?

No Sandra, we have not called any outside agency as of yet. We will know more which way to turn once the vet evals are done and we can nail numbers a little closer. I know she would not ship one that needed surgery cross-country. We do have a wonderful opthamologist who charges us very little if he can save an eye. He did my Joe's eye surgery and his eye was leaking fluid! We did the plasma thing after the surgery and Joe never lost sight in his eye. There's just a small corneal scar now, that you have to look closely to find.

Time is of the essence in a situation like that, and I got Joe there promptly. We know that there may be little he can do for these guys since treatment was not sought when the injury ocurred.

You can pity a hoarder (it really IS a psychological problem). However, pity fades and anger invades when you see how the dogs have suffered. sad

Yikes!!!! Good thing family got involved so the little guys and gals could have a chance. Don't these people know this is neglect. it is one thing to be a hoarder but you can't neglect the pugs. That is animal abuse/cruelty.
Good luck with everyone and I wish I could be there to help or even better I wish it was easier to send them my way. I literally have 20 people who are waiting to give a pugger or two an awesome home.
Keep us updated and let us know what you guys need......$$'s, food, blankets, towels,etc....

Hi Judy,

Sorry to hear about these poor little pugs. It just breaks my heart. It made me cry when PRONC took over the WILSON puppymill bust awhile back and now to hear about this one just kills me.

I dont understand why in this time and age when there is so much information out there about over population in this world these BYB's continue to do these inhumane acts. It just downright wrong and disgraceful.

I will make a donation like I did the last time for PRONC. I will drop you a private email shortly.
Thanks for keeping us updated on this Judy. Talk to you soon.

The Reason

To you, from all your rescue dogs...
I would've died that day if not for you.
I would've given up on life if not for your kind eyes.
I would've used my teeth in fear if not for your gentle hands.
I would have left this life believing that all humans don't care
Believing there is no such thing as fur that isn't matted,
skin that isn't flea bitten, good food and enough of it, beds to sleep on,
someone to love me, to show me I deserve love just because I exist.
Your kind eyes, your loving smile, your gentle hands
Your big heart saved me...
You saved me from the terror of the pound,
Soothing away the memories of my old life.
You have taught me what it means to be loved.
I have seen you do the same for other dogs like me.
I have heard you ask yourself in times of despair
Why you do it
When there is no more money, no more room, no more homes
You open your heart a little bigger, stretch the money a little tighter
Make just a little more room...to save one more like me.
I tell you with the gratitude and love that shines in my eyes
In the best way I know how
Reminding you why you go on trying.
I am the reason
The dogs before me are the reason
As are the ones who come after.
Our lives would've been wasted, our love never given
We would die if not for you.

. . . My handler just brought back two seniors that Vickie needed to send us, and there was another one needing to come here from E. Washington, who's transportation wasn't arranged last I heard. It's a HUGE job, and in every case, a very sad story. The two I got were in really good shape, but their elderly owner was not able to care for them any longer. I think those situations are especially tragic.

I was unable to avoid a piece of junk that bounced into the lane in front of my car, while I was boxed in on the freeway and traveling at 60 mph, so had a blowout on the way home. I was just grateful I'd dropped the two oldsters off before heading home, so they didn't have to go through sitting along side the freeway waiting for AAA to come and change my tire. (Jack & May were with me.) I had to remove the 400 crate they'd been in to get to the spare and the tools, and I can't imagine that would have done much for their stress level, if they'd been in the crate when I moved it. . . .

GOOD NEWS, I took my tire in for a replacement, and I got one for FREE!!! All's well with the "Pug Taxi" once again!!! :)

Pictures are starting to come up on the website now.

It hurts me to look at them and they've all been bathed and cleaned up. My first thoughts were OMG, that person was letting these pitiful looking dogs breed! I don't know why that's such a shocker to me as many times as that happens. It's what they *all* do when a huge number comes in at once like this. I never get conditioned to it.

I'm 100 miles away from the current action, but I'm standing by to foster as soon as they can be documented, vetted, and dispersed. Our vet is making house calls to the kennel with his assistant. God bless him that Chris doesn't have to haul them in for appointments! The ones that need anything he can't do at the kennel, he takes back with him.

No word yet on who or how many are pregnant. Spay/nueter day is not until May 21-22 for all who are healthy enough and not pregnant of course. This is going to be a drawn out process.

I feel like I'm on the outside looking in while everybody else does this work...even though I am dog-sitting two former rescues this weekend while their family attends an out of state wedding.
That's the fun side of rescue...getting to see them again after they are well-loved and happy.
That's therapy!

Thanks for posting the link with pictures Judy. I spoke to Chris yesterday and it sounds like a quite an ordeal! Just when you think you've heard the worst possible scenario, something else pops up!!
